Almost every reading material about being a good trader talks about values such as discipline, risk appetite, knowledge and the likes.
However, at the end of the day, what matters most to a professional trader is – whether or not his account is growing. This was the topic of discussion with a much senior trader at the firm where I work.
IMO, this should be *the* guiding principle. All the other aspects mentioned above (and other subtleties like scaling up, managing your clip), should be cultivated around the central goal of steady and consistent account building.
